奧巴馬在就職演說上，提倡同志平權，昐同志兄弟姊妹在法律上得到平等待遇。「Gay」 一詞也是首次出現在美國總統就職典禮中。然而，大部份人不懂政治，不懂政治花樣，肯定一點，奧巴馬提醒了人民，至少我們要關心同志權利，簡單直接，人人懂聽。
